The Mouse and the Motorcycle

Title: The Mouse and the Motorcycle

Author: Beverly Cleary

Published: 1965

Pages: 186

This is a book our family received as a Christmas present a few years ago when Lance was just a baby, and we've had a lot of fun reading it to him.  This large print edition makes it easy to read out loud.  It also has quite a few illustrations in it.

"Keith, the boy in the rumpled shorts and shirt, did not know he was being watched as he entered Room 215 of the Mountain View Inn."

When the mouse named Ralph discovers the new resident in Room 215 has a toy motorcycle, he can't resist taking it for a spin.  He has been watching the little boy, Keith, play with it, and it doesn't take the mischievous little mouse long to discover that the Pb-pb-b-b-b sound can make the motorcycle roar to life.  Ralph also learns that the faster he makes the sound, the faster the motorcycle speeds down the hallway!

"He could feel his whiskers swept back by the force of his speed.  It was glorious!"

This fast adventure might come to a screeching halt if Ralph isn't careful though.  Check out this Beverly Cleary favorite and find out what happens!

xoxo,
Kelly
