This book was one that my husband picked up at the library, and it has been so much fun!  Even though Clarice likes for me to read it to her over and over and over, I don't mind at all. 

Mom was mad because I left cupcake crumbs in my bed again.  "If you don't clean up after yourself, we're going to get pests!"

But a little mess can get the family into big trouble...first a few ants, then a mouse or two, then....Great, now we've got Barbarians!

I spotted this new book on another blog I follow and I just had to check it out.  The illustrations are endearing and the story is just so cute.

Mr. Fuzzbuster knew he was Lily's favorite.  They'd been together since he fit in a teacup and she fit in diapers. 

Things get a little shaken up when four new animals arrive though.  How can Mr. Fuzzbuster compete with Fishy Face, Lizard the King, Feathers, and Bruiser the dog?  How will they find out who is Lily's favorite?

This is a book I read out loud to the kids a few weeks ago.  We don't have any pets of our own other than the neighbor's cat that we feed, so the kids love books with animals on the cover.  

When Rana and her family have to go to India for a few weeks, her good friend Susan is more than happy to help out.  Susan reassures her friend, "Have a wonderful time and don't worry about a thing." 

Well, it's a good thing Susan keeps her correspondence to Rana rather vague, because she certainly wouldn't want to tell her that the cat gets sick, there is a deer in the backyard with Christmas lights stuck in their antlers, and that their friend Richard ends up getting hurt!

How will all this get resolved?  Is it ok to go near a wild deer?  Settle down with some Christmas cookies and find out in this perfect adventure!

Lance attends a pre-school program at an elementary school and they get to go to the library and check out a book every Friday.  This is one that he checked out a few months ago.  I didn't review it at the time but did write down the title to remind myself.  Then he checked it out again this past Friday...yay!

Widget is one of the cutest picture books that I have come across in a while.  When the stray dog Widget comes across a house with a special dog-sized door, he hopes that his days of lonely wandering are over.  Although the lady of the house Mrs. Diggs takes pity on him right from the beginning, she informs Widget that six cats (the girls) live with her. 

Widget looked at the girls.  

He looked at Mrs. Diggs.  

She seemed so nice.  

Widget really wanted to stay.  

"Meow?" said Widget.

What will happen next?  Will Widget and the girls be able to all live together?  Grab you favorite furry animal and find out in Widget.

I really hope that my kids read this blog one day, but even if they don't I've had a lot of fun with it.  I didn't read much at all when I was growing up so sometimes I feel like I'm making up for lost time with all these children's and young adult books!  :)

Although I'm more of a cat person, I absolutely loved this book by J.J. Howard.  When Cecelia Murray gets out of middle school in the afternoons, she spends her free time volunteering at Orphan Paws.  It doesn't take long for this big-hearted dog lover to fall in love with the newly orphaned Pug she names Potato.  Also known as Sweet Potato, this sweet pup is quickly healing from his injuries and rapidly falling for Cecelia.  But what happens when she isn't able to take him home with her?  

This book just seemed to fall into my lap at a time when I really needed it.  This easy to read, enjoyable tale made my heart grow about ten times bigger.  I hope you are able to check it out.
