"Snowflakes like dandelion fluff floated in the air. Christmas carols rang through the streets, and the sleigh bells on Blue Bird's door chimed merrily as people went in and out."
I can usually tell if I'm going to enjoy a book just by reading the first few lines. Right away, I knew this one was going to be a real treasure!
The old bus, named Blue Bird, is trying to make its way through another snowy afternoon on Christmas Eve. Mary, is it's driver, and little Hannah is riding along to help out with the dispersing of books. Mary and Hannah are able to make all their stops, but there are some pretty steep hills on the snowy roads towards the end of their ride. Will they be able to make it? Will they have to spend Christmas Eve night on the bus which is now packed with desserts and goodies their friends have given them?
I had actually read this book back in October, but a grid lock traffic jam that I got into on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving got me thinking that I might be carving a turkey in my car on Hwy 285. Then I remembered this sweet book, and I could feel my spirits lifting, even as the cold rain hit my windshield and the only festive lights I was seeing were the brake lights in front of me.
Check out this warm Christmas tale that you will want to read over and over again...I know I did!
xoxo,
Kelly
