Title: The Penderwicks

This unpretentious, humble book was just what I needed to get me through this past week. No jacket cover, no plot description, no movie trailer, or ground-breaking trilogy...nope, this little gem of a book can hold its own!
When the Penderwicks summer plans change at the last minute, they stumble across the Arundel cottage located in the Berkshire Mountains. The cottage located on a large estate is just perfect for Mr. Penderwick, the family dog named Hound, and the four young girls Rosalind, Skye, Jane and Batty.
The girls soon befriend the older teenage boy, Cagney, who cares for the landscaping on the grounds, along with the younger Jeffrey who lives with his mom in the estate's mansion. Jeffrey's mom, Mrs. Tifton, does not care much for the seemingly unruly Penderwick girls, and she doesn't mince words to vocalize her quick judgement.
Join in on the summer-time frolicking fun as the girls explore the grounds, cause a little mischief, and along the way try to rescue Jeffrey from being sent off to military school. Hope you enjoy!
