The Big Sea

Title: The Big Sea

Author: Richard Armstrong

Published: 1964

Pages: 158

There is no better time to read of a seagoing experience, than in the middle of summer.  And, if you can read it while sitting in your own kiddie pool, then that is even better!

I'm into all things nautical these days, so I couldn't pass up this adventure out to sea.  Although Dave and Jonty were the "youngest members of the ship's company," they still ended up playing a major role on the ship Kariba.  Dave, the more emotional of the two, believed in the spirit of the ship.  And the more level-headed Jonty just wanted to get his job done and gain experience.

As a treacherous storm comes upon them, the Kariba sustains a lot of structural damage.  A nearby ship named the Juba comes to the rescue of the thirty man crew.  As the transfer of this precious cargo is being made, Jonty is feared to have gone overboard.  Dave is reluctant to go aboard the Juba and leave his friend...

"Go on, son!" urged the Old Man.  "It's your turn."
"Yes, sir.  But Jonty...suppose..."

Find out what becomes of Dave and Jonty in this exciting nautical adventure!  Hope you enjoy it!

xoxo,
Kelly

  1. You've left us with a cliff hanger review. Not fair!

Also, I love the picture of you reading in the pool.
