I have been so spoiled lately by picking up some fun, great reads. This is one of those books that really raises the bar for what I'll be looking for on my next reading adventure.
If you enjoy humor, adventure, and science-fiction, then you will really enjoy The Fourteenth Goldfish...and you'll learn how to spell "fourteenth" ...lol!
Ellie Cruz knows that her mom has a flare for drama...I mean the woman does have blue hair! But when her mom brings home Grandpa Melvin who looks like a teenage boy, then things really get dramatic. Is this one of Grandpa's weird lab experiments gone horribly worng? How could this be happening?
Ellie tells everyone at school that Melvin is her cousin. Things can be hard enough for an eleven year old middle school girl you know! Fortunately for Ellie's grades, Melvin is able to ignite her passion for all things science. She is able to learn about the works of Jonas Salk, Robert Oppenheimer, and Marie Curie.
Science does have an ethical element to it though, and Ellie has to reign in her overly excited "cousin" to what could potentially happen in the future if all seventy year old men were able to become teenage boys again.
Ride along with Ellie as she comes to believe in the Possible. Also, be sure to check out the Jennifer Holm website listed above...I know I'll be checking out some more of her books very soon!
xoxo,
Kelly
I've put a hold on this one at our library because it sounds really interesting!
